Anne Arundel school board announces three finalists for superintendent

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Anne Arundel County Board of Education has announced the three finalists for superintendent of county schools.

They include George Arlotto, chief of staff for Anne Arundel schools and former associate superintendent for school performance; Maureen McMahon, assistant superintendent of advanced studies and programs for Anne Arundel schools; and Francisco Duran, superintendent of the Trenton Public School District in Trenton, N.J.

A 20-member panel of county residents will interview each of the candidates and provide input to the school board.

Interim superintendent Mamie J. Perkins’ term ends on June 30. She previously said she was not interested in the job long-term. The new superintendent’s term will begin July 1.

Nearly 80,000 students attend Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Former superintendent Kevin M. Maxwell resigned last summer after seven years to serve as CEO of Prince George’s County Public Schools.
