A Maryland county jail has recorded its highest number of suicides in nearly a decade.

The Capital reports 23-year-old Macey Marie Machen, 59-year old Sobhy Fariz Narouz Abdelmalak and 29-year-old Sean Paul Cassady committed suicide this year at the Jennifer Road Detention Center, Anne Arundel County's maximum security and pretrial detention facility.

Superintendent Terry Kokolis says the jail last experienced three suicides in one year in 2008, and brought in a consultant to review jail policies then. Prior to this year, the last suicide was in 2014.

County police spokesman Lt. Ryan Frashure says no foul play was found in the three cases.

There were 230 people on suicide precaution between January and November. None of the three were on suicide watch.

There have been two attempted suicides this year.
