Breast cancer is like that dragon that storms out of the water and attacks. The only way you can fight back is with an oar, or a paddle with a purpose.

Mike Ashford, who owns McGarvey’s in Annapolis, somehow found a 2000-year-old Chinese remedy. It's called Dragon Boat Racing. When Mike, himself a breast cancer survivor did research, he decided this would be a great fit in our state capitol.

The Annapolis Dragon Boat Club is open to all men and women. They practice Tuesday and Thursday nights.

Local artist, Nancy Hammond, has painted her rendition of "the paddles of the dragon" which is currently displayed in the breast center of Anne Arundel Medical Center.  That same painting is available for purchase on note cards and on a rolled print.
