Afternoon fire displaces Glen Burnie family

MILLERSVILLE, Md. - A fire that broke out early Tuesday afternoon displaced two adults from a Glen Burnie home.

According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, around 1 p.m. dispatchers received calls that there was a house fire in the 400 block of 7th Avenue N.E.

When firefighters arrived they found a one-story occupied home that had flames showing.

Firefighters were able to place the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

Numerous pets were rescued from the burning home and were giving oxygen on the scene. Medical personnel transported the pets to a local animal hospital, the fire department said.

The fire caused about $60,000 in loss and damage to the home.

The family declined assistance from the Red Cross.

Firefighters say that no injuries were reported.

While the fire remains under investigation, the fire department believes the cause was accidental.

No smoke alarms were found in the home.
