Acting city manager named in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Annapolis mayor Mike Pantelides has named an acting city manager.

Brian Woodward, who has been the city’s Recreation and Parks director since 2012, replaces Virginia Burke. Burke, former assistant city manager, was named acting city manager in January. Her last day was Friday.

Woodward has a bachelor’s degree in resource conservation and wildlife biology from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in public administration from George Washington University.

As director of Recreation and Parks, Woodward restructured the operating budget, reorganized the department and improved customer service.

Annapolis harbormaster J.P."Flip" Walters will be acting Recreation and Parks director. The search for a permanent city manager continues.
