A 72-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Tuesday morning after a motorcycle struck his bike on Defense Highway, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
The accident happened around 8:50 a.m. near Huntwood Drive. Witnesses told firefighters the victim was riding his bike when his rear wheel was hit by a motorcycle, throwing the patient several feet off his bike.
He was flown via Maryland State Police helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The fire department said it's unknown if the motorcycle operator remained on the scene.
