A 60-year-old woman dies after a crash between a light rail train and a car on Friday.

The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. in Glen Burnie on Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. near South Broadview Blvd.

Crash investigators say Denise Thomas of Lewes, DE was driving north on B&A Blvd and tried to turn left across the tracks onto S. Broadview Blvd and was hit by the train. There are signs posted that read "Do Not Enter" and "No Left Turn."

Witnesses also told investigators the rail crossing lights were on and the stop arm was down on the far side of the tracks. There is no stop arm on the B&A Blvd side.

Medics took Thomas to Baltimore Washington Medical Center where she later died. Thomas' grandson was in the car with her. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center with minor injuries.

At this point, investigators believe the primary cause of the collision was failure to obey traffic signs and add drugs and alcohol are not contributing factors.
