WASHINGTON - Sony is recalling 69,000 AC adapters for its VAIO computers.

Insulation inside the AC adapter can fail over time, posing an electrical shock hazard to consumers.

The recalled AC adapter model is the Sony VGP-AC19V17.

The adapters were sold with computers and/or docking stations between September 2005 and October 2009.

Sony is urging consumers to stop using the adapter and contact the company for a free replacement.
