Richard Mourdock abortion comment creates controversy

The pro-life, pro-choice debate is a sensitive one and a senate candidate in Indiana has set off a firestorm after his comments about the topic at a debate.

Richard Mourdock was asked about his pro-life stance in instances of rape.

Here's what he said:

"I believe that life begins at conception...the only exception is to save life of the mother...struggle with is a gift from God...even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape..It is something that God intended to happen."

His opponent responded, saying God never intends for rape to happen and the comments were "twisted and sick."

Mourdock says he wasn't suggesting that at all.

Mitt Romney's campaign is now distancing itself from Mourdock, despite releasing a TV ad in support of him the day of the debate.
