Pa. voter ID case, political campaigns press on

HARRISBURG, Pa - The first court battle over Pennsylvania's new law requiring voters to show valid photo identification will head to the state Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, other legal hurdles could surface and political campaigns are moving forward to November's election.

An appeal is imminent to a judge's Wednesday decision to reject an injunction that would have halted the law from taking effect in the Nov. 6 presidential election.

State officials have another week to supply information to the U.S. Department of Justice, which is looking at Pennsylvania's law and has moved to block voter ID laws in other states.

President Barack Obama's campaign says it'll continue spreading the word about the need to get photo ID, while the Republican and Democratic parties each emailed fundraising appeals spinning off the judge's ruling.
