Maryland State police are investigating a deadly crash north of the Millard Tydings Bridge Sunday morning.
Around 10:32 a.m. troopers responded to a serious crash on I-95 in Cecil County near Route 222.
According to State Police, a driver later identified as Eric Schlerf, 37, of Bel Air was traveling north on I-95 when he lost control of his car and struck a tow truck, pedestrian and another vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and identified as Brian Williams, 51 of Cecil County. Williams is a member of the Community Fire Company of Perryville.
At the fire house in Perryville, black bunting is now draped over Williams' locker. He volunteered there for over 30 years.
"It's heartbreaking for everybody involved," said Chief Brian Jones. "He was a great guy, all around nice guy, would do anything for you, give you the shirt off his back."
Jones says his own crew members responded to the call Sunday morning and were among the first to identify Williams.
"It was just a routine call for him. He had a disabled vehicle on 95 and somebody didn't move over," Jones said.
Firefighters say Williams worked as a tow-truck driver at Collette's Service Center in Perryville. He retired last year from the Baltimore County Fire Department.
Williams leaves behind a wife and daughter.

Earlier Saturday morning, State police advised all drivers in the area to expect delays and to use Route 40.

Since the incident all lanes have reopened.
No charges have been filed and the investigation remains on going at this time.
