Wheelchair bodybuilding is lot like able-bodied bodybuilding "but tougher" because athletes really have to work through their disability to build strength.

There are only 23 professionals in the U.S. and one of them is training right down I-95.

It's been more than 3 years since Derek Benson has been able to walk. A motorcycle crash almost killed him leaving him partially paralyzed from the waist down and wheelchair bound.

But a friend's suggestion turned him to wheelchair bodybuilding.

Benson says, "It's tough, that's the thing with wheelchair bodybuilding, every athlete's got a condition they have to overcome in a different way. So, you really got to think outside the box with your training."

It was founded in the U.S. in 2006 and five years later the International Federation of Bodybuilding officially recognized the competition.

Benson competes as an amateur and is the only wheelchair bodybuilder in the Washington D.C. area.
