It's a dangerous challenge that's popping up on social media.

The "Ice-Salt Challenge" involves kids putting salt on their skin and placing an ice cube on top, then holding it there for as long as they can. The reaction can cause burns.

For Kathryn Hall's daughter, it only took three minutes to cause severe burns when she tried the challenge at a sleepover.

"It just felt like I was holding normal ice," Hall's daughter said.

What makes the challenge so dangerous is that salt lowers the ice's temperature and it gets to the point where it's like putting dry ice on your skin. It can burn and leave scars.

"They don't know better, they're children and we don't know better because we're not looking up the same things that a child would look up," Hall said.

Her daughter is now recovering.
