Multiple candidates are looking the fill the seat soon left by Baltimore mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

Senator Catherine Pugh, the Democratic nominee who's largely seen as the front-runner, is a longtime state legislator and a former Baltimore City Councilwoman.

Republican challenger Alan Walden is facing an uphill battle in a largely Democratic city that elected its last Republican mayor back in 1963. Walden is a former journalist and radio anchor. This is his first bid for a public office.

Former mayor Sheila Dixon is running as a write-in candidate after losing the April primary election. No city candidate has ever won an election as a write-in, but Dixon said she’s banking on the strength of social media, mailing and calls to voters.

Green Party candidate Joshua Harris, largely unknown in the city’s political spectrum, said he’s running to shake up City Hall.
