A Baltimore County man is behind bars after police say he pushed his sister out of a speeding car. It happened on the outer loop of the Baltimore Beltway Sunday evening near Security Boulevard. The two were apparently arguing before the woman was thrown out of the car.
Traffic on I-695 was backed up for hours. Police say 35 year old Rashid Hall threw his younger sister Kareena out of the car.
According to charging documents, the brother had picked his sister up from work in Towson. She was angry at him because he was late. The two continued to argue and the victim said she wanted to get out of the car.
Cpl. Mike Hill with the Baltimore County Police Department says, “She said to him, please pull the car over I want to get out. And he did not want to do that because they were so close to home.”
That's when witnesses saw the victim thrown from the car at a high rate of speed. The brother did not stop. Hill says, “He continued on, did not stop, did not call 911 and then he picked up his mother. He said he was scared. He took her and himself and went to Northwest Hospital because he figured that’s where she would’ve gone. She did not go there so he decided to go home. And we were at the house when he drove up.”
Police say the suspect lived with his mother and sister at the Rolling Wind Apartments in Windsor Mill. And that’s where police arrested him shortly after they say he pushed his sister out of the car.” Bernadette Matthews, a neighbor says, "When I came home I saw the cops out here. I feel so sorry for them."
Hall is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st and 2nd degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
His sister was taken to Shock Trauma where she underwent surgery. Cpl. Hill says, “If you’re thrown from a vehicle at 50 mph on the Baltimore Beltway, you’re going to sustain some pretty serious injuries.”
In 2006, Hall had a restraining order against him in a domestic violence case.
He's being held on $3 million bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. He has a bail review hearing on Tuesday.
