WPOC 93.1 FM has announced that morning show host Laurie DeYoung will be inducted in the County Music DJ Hall of Fame in February.
DeYoung is a 24-year veteran of WPOC and has won prestigious awards such as the Country Music Association (CMA) Large Market Personality of the Year (1994) along with being nominated for many Billboard, R&R, and CMA awards. The Laurie DeYoung Show is also the longest running show in both County Radio and in Baltimore.
According to a WPOC press release. Hartley Atkins of Clear Channel Washington DC & Baltimore, says, “Laurie’s 24 years of doing Mornings at WPOC have earned her this recognition and so much more! She is an impressive part of our team and the community.”
The Country Music DJ Hall of Fame (founded 1974) is dedicated to the recognition of those individuals who have made significant contributions to country radio/music industry. With the induction, DeYoung becomes just the second woman ever to be inducted to the Hall of Fame.
She will be formally inducted on February 23, 2010 at the Nashville Convention Center during the Country Radio Seminar.
