Police arrested an 18-year-old after he threw drugs out of his window and crashed into a telephone pole Wednesday evening.
At around 9:45 p.m., officer observed
Matthew J. Wilson's Ford Taurus speeding along Southern Maryland Boulevard and Sands Road in Lothian. As the officer attempted to pull Wilson over, they saw him throw something out of his car. He then sped away.
As Wilson sped away, he crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of Mt. Zion Marlboro Road and Sands Road. Wilson and his passenger tried running away but police were able to catch up with them.
Police later discovered the object Wilson threw out the window was a Ziploc bag containing 123.4 grams of suspected marijuana with an estimated street value of $1,234.00.
Wilson's was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and a number of traffic violations.
The investigation is ongoing.
