It appears that a new “Stop Snitching” DVD is circulating on the streets of Baltimore.  A trailer posted on-line advertises “Stop Snitching 2.”

The original film gained prominence in 2004 for its violent depiction of life on the streets in West Baltimore – and its threats against anyone who cooperates with police.

The new version continues with the same theme.  So far, only the minute-long trailer has been released.  It's a collection of profanity-filled speeches and disturbing images – including a child waving a gun and apparently using drugs.

Richard Wheeler of Southwest Baltimore watched the trailer.  He told ABC-2 News he's worried about its impact on children, especially on the child who appears on the DVD.

“Kids don't know any better. They see you brush your teeth they figure it's a good way of doing things. And if they see you live by the gun as far as they're concerned this is the way to go,” he said.

Baltimore City's top prosecutor, Patricia Jessamy, is mentioned in the trailer, during a profanity-filled tirade by a man who says she and Congressman Elijah Cummings tried to stop the DVD from being made.

Joe Sviatko, a spokesman for Jessamy, says that won't stop her from fighting witness intimidation.  “State's Attorney Jessamy considers it a badge of honor that they took the time to mention her by name because she thinks it means we're doing something right,” he said.

City Mayor Sheila Dixon saw the trailer for the first time Wednesday.  “I hope that with our efforts in the community … that that won't stop people, or become fearful of providing the kind of information that's needed,” she said.

Richard Wheeler praised the police -- saying his Southwest Baltimore neighborhood is improving.  He hopes the new DVD won't have an impact on that progress.  “I don't know what police are doing but they're doing darn good," he said.

The state's attorney could look into filing charges of reckless endangerment, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor against the people who made the film, because of the scenes involving that young boy. Calls to the company that claims to be distributing the video were not returned.

Warning: We have attatched a copy of the DVD trailer, although it has been edited, the contents, may still not be suitable for younger viewers. Some profanity is in the language, and images shown are violent.
