Stepdad Accused of Breaking Boy's Skull

Last Update: 10/08/2009 2:52 pm
Wilmington Manor, DE - A Delaware man is charged with breaking his stepson's skull after doctors found a shoeprint on the boy's head.

Thirty-four-year-old Jesus Gonzalez faces felony assault charges. A.I. duPont Hospital for Children staff saw a "shoeprint pattern" on the boy's forehead Wednesday and a bruise on his head.

Gonzalez was released from police custody Thursday morning and arrested again for violating a no-contact order by returning to his home near Wilmington Manor where the beating happened.

Police say Gonzalez was watching the child at his home near Wilmington Manor when the assault occurred while the boy's mother was out.

The boy is under evaluation at the hospital. Police say more charges are pending against Gonzalez.
