Biologists in Maryland are hoping new fishing techniques will help them find a fish feared to be extinct.
The Maryland Darter, which only lived in three creeks in Harford County, was last seen in 1988. Today, biologists, students and professors from Frostburg State University searched the Susquehanna River in hopes of finding the fish. They're using a new technology specifically designed to catch small bottom loving fish like the Darter.
Richard Raesly, a professor Biology at Frostburg State University, says the search is part of a two year effort to find the fish. The Darter is on the federal endangered species list.
Biologists hope they will find it so they can protect it.
