The latest on a developing story out of Harford County, where Maryland State Police say charges are pending against a driver involved in a deadly three car crash. It happened on the Bel Air Bypass during Friday night's rush hour.
Police believe Christopher Lentz, of Glen Arm, lost control of his Jeep and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a minivan, causing it to spin out of control and hit another van. Two people in the minivan died: Katherine Brady and her 8-year-old son Wilson.
Two other people in the van, husband Stephen Brady and 2-year-old son Ian Brady were injured. Lentz is also at Shock Trauma in good condition.
Police will talk with the Harford County State's Attorneys office before filing any charges.
Grief counselors will also be at Wilson Brady's school Monday to help classmates deal with their friend’s death.
A prayer service was held Saturday evening for a 10-year-old boy and his mother killed in a car crash in Harford County Friday night.
The prayer service for the Wilson family took place at 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hydes, Maryland. Wilson was a third grader at the school.
Wilson and his 31-year-old mother, Katherine Brady, were both killed instantly in an auto accident on the Bel Air Bypass Friday evening. Friends tell ABC 2 News, the family was on their way to a Boy Scout camping trip at Rock State Park when the accident happened.
State Police say 37-year-old Christopher Lentz of Glen Arm was driving a Jeep Cherokee on the southbound shoulder of Route 1 when, for unknown reasons, the Jeep crossed three lanes of traffic and collided head-on into the Brady family minivan. The minivan then struck another vehicle.
The boy's father, Stephen Brady, 32, was driving the van. He and his 2-year-old son were both injured and airlifted to Shock Trauma and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Lentz was also injured. He was taken to Shock Trauma where he is currently listed in fair condition. Police say charges are pending against Lentz.
The driver of the third vehicle, 36-year-old Brian Kurchner, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
