State Police say a man is confirmed to be dead after his motorcycle crashed and went into the Conowingo Dam Sunday afternoon.
The crash was reported shortly before 2:30. Witnesses tell police they saw the driver of the motorcycle speeding as he approached the stop sign on northbound Route 222 at Route 1 in Cecil County. A preliminary investigation reveals the driver sped through the stop sign, struck the side of the dam, and then went over the wall into the dam.
A Department of Natural Resources boat was nearby and state police say someone on board heard the crash. They pulled the man's body out of the water.
The victim has not yet been identified.
