ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) -- A Howard County judge has found a man guilty of breaking into his ex-girlfriend's mother and her fiancee in their Columbia home and stabbing them.
State's attorney spokesman Wayne Kirwan says Gregory Imes Jr. was found guilty late Wednesday of two counts each of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault and breaking and entering.
Imes' attorney did not deny that Imes stabbed two people, but argued that the attacks were unplanned and did not constitute attempted first-degree murder.
Imes' sister, Melinda Allen, testified that Imes told her he intended to kill his girlfriend of six months after she broke up with him.
