Howard County Child Porn Arrest

Reported by: Roosevelt Leftwich
Last Update: 10/28/2009 9:45 pm
The house sits way back off the road shrouded by trees.

State Police say 48 year old Clifford Clarkson apparently lived alone and had several computers in his home for company.

But on those computers state police say were images of children being abused....computers that were open for file sharing.

'They identified that address and the owner of that IP site they actually downloaded files from that site that were offered by that individual and they were clearly videos of child pornography.’ State Police Spokesman Greg Shipley says.

Clarkson's arrest started as routine search of the file downloading site Gnutella.

Investigators with the computer crimes unit were able to locate files that depicted child pornography.....including videos of girls under 12 being forced to have sex with adults.

They traced the source of the videos back to computers inside of Clarkson's Montgomery Road home, which was within walking distance of an elementary school and a day care center.

According to charging documents state police found several video files that showed children, mostly pre-pubescent girls being fondled and forced to have sex with adult men and women.

It includes, video of an adult having sex with an infant.

‘This is a reminder to parents to know what they're children are doing when they're on that computer so many people out there that have evil intent that are working to connect with children provide materials that children shouldn't be in possession of and this is one of those cases.’ Shipley says.

Clarkson is facing three counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of distribution.

He remains in the Howard County jail.
