The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Calvert County in southern Maryland until 10:30pm Thursday night.
Thursday afternoon radar images indicated an area of very heavy rain over the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and the Delmarva Peninsula.

This area of heavy rainfall will move into Calvert County through 6 pm resulting in another inch to an inch of rainfall.
Some locations that will continue to be affected by the heavy rain include Chesapeake Beach, Dunkirk, Lusby, North Beach, Prince Frederick, Calvert Cliffs, Cuckold Creek, Plum Point, Saint Leonard Creek, and Sheridan Point.
A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However, all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
