Fire Reported at Six Flags

Last Update: 7/31/2008 9:22 am

BOWIE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County firefighters have extinguished a blaze that destroyed the haunted house attraction at the Six Flags amusement park in Bowie.

Prince George's Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady says the attraction is only open during the Halloween season, so no customers were in danger. The fire erupted about 7 p.m. Wednesday. A spokeswoman for Six Flags says that the area near the building was evacuated and the entire park was closed.

No other rides were damaged, and there were no injuries reported. Brady says it took 60 firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
