Reisterstown Fire Kills School Crossing Guard

Rose Lea Salzman, 67, was killed Saturday afternoon in a fire in Reisterstown. 

She worked for 31 years as a crossing guard at Timber Grove Elementary School.

Fire investigators have ruled the two-alarm blaze, in the 100 block of Ewing Drive, accidental, caused by combustible materials left on top of the stove. They estimate the cost of fire damage at $250,000.

One person is dead after a fire on Ewing Drive in Reisterstown. 

The fire broke out around 1:30 Saturday afternoon. 

Fire crews were called to the scene and reported heavy fire coming from the dwelling. 

Crews were hampered in their search and rescue operation by a large amount of property and trash in the home. 

A woman was found in the home on a second search operation.  She was dead on the scene.  It is unknown if her death was caused by smoke inhalation or burns. 

Fire officials are investigating what caused the fire.
