James von Brunn's own son is now speaking out against his father, just as the mother of the slain officer says that she forgives the self proclaimed white supremacist who took her child's life.Today a U.S. District Court judge is scheduled to hear an update on the health of 88-year-old James von Brunn. He is charged with first degree murder, after police say he walked into the Holocaust Memorial Museum in D.C. last week, and shot security officer Stephen Johns.
James von Brunn's son is now speaking out. Erik von Brunn tells ABC News and the Washington Post that quote "I cannot express enough how deeply sorry I am it was Mr. Johns and not my father who lost his life."
Stephen Johns mother Jacqueline Carter is also speaking out. “I can’t hate the man. If I hated I wouldn’t be any better than he. Don’t need to harbor hate. If he does survive maybe he can get rid of the hate in his heart.”
Son Erik von Brunn also had words for extremists like his father. He said that anyone who considers James von Brunn a hero should understand that what he did was an act of cowardice
