For specifics about her trial embattled Mayor Dixon referred everyone to her attorneys.
But she made it clear that Baltimore will only have one mayor while she's in court.
'We have decision memo's that are presented to me i review have discussions make decisions and my agencies are very focused and continue to provide this quality service.' Dixon told reporters who were peppering her with questions about her upcoming trial
Dixon's trial on perjury and theft in office is slated to begin next Monday.
She's accused of taking gift cards earmarked for the poor.
The only details Dixon will reveal is that in case of emergency she will break out of court.
‘We have a system in place a system has been discussed with my attorneys and the judge and if something drastic happens and I have to be a part of it then I will be.’ Dixon says. ‘I’m not going to be in the court room looking at my blackberry I think you can't bring Blackberrys in the courtroom.’
The demands on the Mayor of any major city range from serious topics like H1N1 response.....to a ribbon cutting.
The mayor's job is to be in the public eye and in control of what goes on in her city.
By being on trial many folks say, she loses a lot and that means the people lose a lot.
'I think she's already in trouble with the city as far as trusting her and her faith in her duties as the mayor so it's a big problem especially pending her sentence or what goes on with her court case or not.’ Lewis Brown says.
'If she's going to do it i would like for her making that decision on what's best for the city and not keeping her hand on the job i think it would be very difficult for the circumstances.' Ellen Tannen says.
Dixon vehemently denies all the charges against her and says she has no plans to resign from office.
The trial will go on, and so she says will the city.
'Oh let me say this in closing since you had to ask that question....the truth will come out and that's all I have to say about that.' Dixon says.
