The Archdiocese of Baltimore is trying to get to the bottom of a possible miracle.  Archbishop Edwin O'Brien of Baltimore is presiding over the opening session in the Diocesan Inquiry into an alleged healing.

An Annapolis woman said she was cured of  Esophageal Cancer through prayers to Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos.  If accepted as miraculous by Rome, a cure could lead to his canonization as a Saint.

"We think we have a miracle. Now we have to be sure that we get all the proper testimony and evidence and doctors say that this was beyond science and explanation that this lady was cured of cancer and I think we have that evidence," said Archbishop Edwin O'Brien with the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

The Archbishop commissioned a five member panel, which includes the Archdiocesan Judicial Vicar, a Canon Lawyer and the Chief of Surgery at Mercy Medical Center.
There's no word on when a decision will be made.

Father Seelos was ordained a Priest in Baltimore in 1844. He died in 1867 of Yellow Fever
