So you've decided to have a party to celebrate a joyous occasion in your life. It could be as big as a wedding, birthday or religious celebration or a small backyard barbecue to celebrate friends and family on a summer holiday. You have organized every detail from the guest list to the menu and the decorations. You want to capture those moments for years to come!
You might plan to take lots of pictures and maybe even carry the camera with you the whole time. Before you know it, the party is over and you realize that you were so busy entertaining your guests and enjoying the moment that you forgot to take any pictures!
Here are some tips to capture the Perfect Party Picture from Darrylee Cohen Owner/Photographer of www.perfectpartypictures.com.
1. Hire or assign a dedicated photographer - It is best to hire a photographer to make sure that you get all of the pictures that are important to you. If a photographer is in not in your budget make sure you assign someone to take pictures. Discuss the nature of the party with the photographer and give them a list of important shots and a timeline.
2. Take time to get some posed shots - Special occasions bring family and friends together that may not have seen each other in a long time and may not see each other again for a while. This is the perfect opportunity to take some posed shots to put in frames. They don't need to be the stiff studio poses. Just get together and take some group shots.
3. Get lots of candids - Make sure to get lots of shots of people enjoying the party. Laughing, hugging, playing. These will turn out to be some of your favorites!
4. Don't miss the important shots - make sure your photographer knows when the important parts of the event will take place. You don't want to miss your child blowing out their first birthday candle or the guest of honors face when they arrive at a surprise party. You only get one chance to capture the moment you want to remember forever.
5. Don't miss the details - you spent a lot of time and money picking the perfect location for your party, just the right decorations, great entertainment, a delectable menu and of course a special cake or dessert. Incorporate the details into your pictures.
6. Don't delete in the camera - Wait until you get home and load your pictures to the computer before you start deleting. It might look bad on the small camera screen but once you look at it on the computer you might realize it is a great shot. Plus there are some great photo editing programs where you can fix pictures that might have originally looked bad.
7. Share the pictures - websites, photo books, collages, it is endless!
