Investigators say a faulty extension cord is to blame for a 2-alarm blaze that destroyed a Darlington home early Tuesday morning. Firefighters were called to the house in the 1900-block of Glen Cove Road at around 2:54 a.m. after the homeowner discovered the fire in one of the back bedrooms. Firefighters from Darlington, Whiteford, Level, Bel Air, Cecil County and Pennsylvania were all called to help tackle the fire. It took them about an hour to bring the blaze under control. The fire cost an estimated $100,000 to the structure of the home and an additional $20,000 in lost contents. No injuries were reported.
