A man died early Friday morning after the car he was in hit the back of a tractor-trailer in Frederick.
Troopers responded to the area of I-60 at Route 85 just before 4:00 in the morning. When they got to the scene they found a car with damage to the front and only one person at the scene.
After an investigation, troopers discovered there were three people in a Honda Accord going westbound when the driver failed to control their speed and hit the rear end of a tractor-trailer.
Troopers say the tractor-trailer did not stop after the car hit it.
The front seat passenger and driver were injured and taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital by good Samaritans who pulled over to help.
The front seat passenger, Javanti E. Jackson, died at the hospital.
Troopers say they do not have any identifying information about the tractor-trailer and an investigation is ongoing.
