Tips for protecting yourself and family from addiction

There has been an unprecedented number of heroin overdoses in Maryland this year. The victims are increasingly middle class with a history of abusing pain pills. 
 
 
Last week we profiled the problem in Harford County, and fears a new drug combination is coming to our state. 
 
Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler recently revealed he's seeing more children using opioids.
 
"We've seen not just that there is but an increasing number of middle school aged children who are reporting using heroin or opiates or pills, so the addiction is into the younger population, we think worse years are ahead," he said.
 
David Semanco, Clinical Director of Serenity Acres Treatment Center in Crownsville, joined ABC2's In Focus to discuss how to protect yourself and your family from addiction.
