Tuesday January 19 is the first day you can file your 2015 income taxes.

The IRS is serious about fighting a new scam. They put together a new warning. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be an IRS agent, hang up. If the scammers call back, hang up again.

The IRS will never call to ask for an immediate payment. Agents also never ask for credit card numbers and they won't threaten to use force against you.

If you owe back taxes, the IRS will send you a letter before reaching out to you by phone.
