The SNAP Challenge is aimed at raising awareness for low-income families in the U.S.

Millions of Americans are living on the average daily food stamp benefit, about $4 per person per day. Participants are challenged to live on $4 a day for one week.

The challenge allows participants to get a real sense for the struggles low-income families face when it comes to shopping choices and healthy food.

Michael Wilson, director of Maryland Hunger Solutions, and Barbara Morrison, former food stamp recipient and author, joined ABC2's In Focus to discuss the challenge and why it's important.
