Erin's Law would bring Maryland in line with 26 other states in what kids learn about sexual assault.

The bill requires lessons on personal body safety. Children are taught that if they are being sexually abused, not to keep it a secret, but to tell someone.

It seems a simple concept, but the law's namesake, Erin Merryn said she didn't understand when she was being sexually assaulted.

"I knew about stranger dancer and the officer taught us every year about stranger danger," she said. "But I didn't know anything about speaking up and telling so I kept it a secret in my diary."

Erin's Law passed three years ago in Merryn's home state of Illinois. In just six years, she worked with legislatures in 26 states to pass similar bills.

It made its way through Annapolis easily, now it's up to Governor Hogan.
