Do mothers ever regret having children?

The debate stems from a study an Israeli sociologist put out last year. The researcher was tired of hearing she'd regret her decision not to have children.

To prove she was right, she interviewed 23 women who admit they love their children -- but if given the chance to do it over again, say they wouldn't have kids.

The issue has blown up in Germany. News articles are being written about why German women in particular are so polarized by the question.

One author explains German society sees it as the mother's role to ensure children are happy and cared for, as opposed to the father's role, or society's role.

So when German women opt to become mothers and have careers, there's tension between the two commitments.
