Diabetes is a health epidemic sweeping across the nation. Maryland currently ranks as the 15th largest diabetic population out of the 50 states.

Analysis by Gallup-Healthways shows nearly 12 percent of Marylanders struggle with diabetes, which is above the national average.

As more Americans are diagnosed with the disease, new programs are created to help manage and treat it. Maryland is leading the way with a program that focuses specifically on diabetic women.

Tracy Newsome and Annie Bailey-Jackson joined ABC2's In Focus to discuss the American Diabetes Association's Fabulous YOU! program.
