For 47 years, Annapolis has been hosting the Fall Sailboat and Powerboat Show.

"The concept of the in water sailboat show was invented in Annapolis in 1970," president and general manager of the Annapolis boat shows Paul Jacobs said.

This won't be the first time the boat show has had to take into consideration the impact of storms headed up the coast. With Matthew possibly heading our way, some may wonder if the boat show can handle it.

"I think we can handle it," Jacobs said. "We've been handling it for 47 years."

The sun was out Tuesday as preparations continued, but that doesn't mean crews are preparing for weather.

"We've doubled up and tripled up all of our pilings and we've brought in extra tent weights for all of our tents," Jacobs said.

The Annapolis boat shows begin Thursday, Oct. 6. Click here for more information.
