Groundbreaking for Angel's Park, an all-inclusive playground in Perry Hall will begin Monday.

Baltimore County executive Kevin Kamenetz and the Perry Hall Recreation Council have partnered to create the $1.5 million all-inclusive playground and amphitheater specifically designed to be the largest and most accessible playground in the Baltimore region for children with special needs.

The idea for Angel Park was created by Kelli and Andy Szczybor. They wanted to create something to honor their son and keep his memory alive. Their son Ryan died of leukemia.

The park will be constructed almost entirely by the Perry Hall Recreation Council's community volunteers on county-owned land leased to the park. Baltimore County will continue to maintain the property.

School children from all over Baltimore gave input about the features and design of the park. It will feature a storybook theme including a fire truck, pirate ship, castle, music stations and a tree house. There will be a wheel-chair accessible "shaky bridge," a Braille panel, therapeutic swings, accessible zip lines and more.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Perry Hall Brank of the Baltimore County Public Library.
