The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, AdoptUSKids, and the Ad Council are partnering to encourage parents to adopt older youth from foster care.

There are currently 112,000 children available for adoption from the foster care system. Approximately 43 percent of children and youth listed on the AdoptUsKids website are between 15-18 years old.

Since the initial launch of AdoptUsKids.org, 26,722 children who were once listed are now with their adoptive families and nearly 39,000 families have registered to adopt from foster care.

Kathy Ledesma, the national project director for AdoptUSKids and La Tika Smith who found her family through foster care joined ABC2's In Focus to discuss AdoptUsKids and how to adopt children from the foster care system.
