Hot Topic: D.C. Metro Sign Slammed for Being Sexist

Metro Sign Raises Some Eyebrows

A new Ad for Metro placed inside a Washington, D.C. station is sparking some controversy this week.

The ad depicts two women having a conversation. One woman is touting the improvements of the metro by stating "A Metrobus travels about 8,260 miles between breakdowns. Didn't know that, did you?"

The second woman responds: "Can we just talk about shoes?"

In response to the ad's backlash by the public, the Metro released a statement:

"The point is to get people talking about METRO's massive rebuilding effort by juxtaposing technical facts with a variety of light responses and conversation between friends. Some of the ads contain men, some contain women."
