If you have chronic back pain, an old remedy may help ease the pain.
A study in the Archives of Internal Medicine adds yoga to the list of treatments for back pain.
230 patients with chronic back pain were divided into three groups.
One group took weekly yoga classes. Another group took stretching exercise classes.
The last group got a book on self-care.
After 12 weeks, the yoga group had better results than those who used the self-care book.
There was no difference between the yoga group and the stretching group.
The authors suggests yoga's benefits come from its physical, not its mental factors.
