As temperatures warm up for the summer months, doctors are saying put the heavy creams away.

Here are some tips to get healthy, summer ready skin.

  • Doctors suggest using a moisturizer with sunscreen, at least SPF 30.
  • You should also be sure to wear proper clothing and hats to prevent sunburn. 
  • And doctors say a facial is not necessary to get your skin ready for warmer weather.

Dr. Melissa Piliang with the Cleveland Clinic says, "You probably don't need a facial, but switching to an alpha-hydroxy lotion that will help sluff off some of that dry, scaly skin on your face and on your body would be a big help."

Experts recommend getting a base tan but they say the tanning salon is not the answer, instead try a self-tanner.
