The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has a list of tips for safe holiday decorations.
First, choose non-metal materials for decorations like tinsel or artificial icicles.
Don't use any sharp or breakable ornaments.
Keep any trimming with small parts out of the reach of children.
Avoid using any decorations that look like candy, young children will likely try to eat them.
And keep any bubbling lights away from kids.
The bright colors and movement can tempt kids, and if opened, the liquid inside the lights can be toxic.
