Staying active and eating a well-balanced diet are ways to prevent the risk of heart disease. However, a new study found that children and teens are doing their part.

An American Heart Association report found far too few children and teens are taking certain healthy habits or steps to keep their ticker healthy. In fact, the study found that the behaviors about food and physical activeness are even worse than previously reported.

More than half of children fail to get 60 minutes of recommended physical activity. In teens, the numbers are worse, with only five in 10 percent getting in that minimum activity time.

When it comes to eating, the statistics can be alarming. Nine in 10 children and teens are not eating well-balanced diets.
