Kidney stones are very painful and send an estimated half-million people to the emergency room every year.
But some simple changes to diet and lifestyle can help to decrease your risk of developing one.
Registered dietician Carolyn Snyder with the Cleveland Clinic says, "Consuming excess protein products, by consuming excess sodium and processed foods, canned foods, lunch meats, fast foods, you're putting yourself at risk for it."
So what can you do to decrease your risk? Snyder says decrease the amount of sodium in your diet. And, drink plenty of water.
