Sheppard Pratt Health System and Mosaic Community Health Center will be expanding thanks to a grant from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.

The insurer will be contributing more than $500,000 to increase access to mental health services in the Baltimore area through the Telecare project.

The funding is part of a nearly $3 million investment from Carefirst to nine organizations working to expand access to health care.

"We want this to look and feel like any other health care clinic that you may walk into for any other health care condition and it should be no different for your mental health or substance use needs,” said Sheppard Pratt president and CEO Harsh Trivedi.

The project currently provides Telemedicine services to more than 600 individuals living with mental illnesses.

Mosaic hopes that through this grant, they will be able to expand their services to nearly 1,800 individuals.
