Oklahoma school closed due to flu, Flu symptoms, H3N2 virus

CREEK COUNTY, Okla. - Increasing flu numbers have shut down one school in Creek County, Oklahoma.

Kiefer Public Schools, which is in Creek county just south of Glenpool, has canceled classes for the entire district Friday.

Out of about 650 students in the district, approximately 100 students are sick and out of school Thursday because of the flu, said Superintendent Mary Murrell.

New data released Thursday morning by state health officials indicates 345 Oklahomans have been hospitalized with the flu and eight have died.

Three people in Tulsa County are among the flu victims and one person each in Creek, Mayes, Muskogee, Pittsburg and Rogers counties have died.
